Training Within Industry & Standard Work

March 26, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Training Within Industry & Standard Work

Training Within Industry (TWI) is often called the “Roots of Lean”. It was created by the United States during World War II to address the need to quickly and effectively train thousands of industrial workers to support production for the war effort. The TWI program created practical methods by which any organization could create work standards and effective training practices. In the 70 years since TWI was developed companies have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars using its methods.  Far from becoming obsolete, TWI continues to be used by like Toyota, Lego, and Kohler.  For companies struggling with workforce training, TWI solves the age old industrial problem of turning tribal knowledge into job methods that can be replicated and taught.

During this workshop, participants will learn TWI’s time-proven methods, including:

How to analyze a job and break it down into its critical components.

From that analysis, how to develop a Job Breakdown Sheet that can be used as a simple, but powerfully effective training tool.

How to effectively train employees to master the required skills for their job.
